Schools in New Delhi are giving in-person classes once again starting September 1, 2021. Children from 9-12 grade can return to class as well as students at colleges and universities. This is in spite of serious concern about a third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Inoculation of teachers, seating accommodation at half the capacity, open-air lunch breaks, as well as social distancing are just a few measures in place as the State Government seeks to ensure the safety of students and teachers.
Speaking on NDTV, the Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia opined that schools couldn’t be closed further. The Minister expressed concern about students’ health and the fact that students were out of classes for one and a half years. The Minister stated that 70 percent of parents were in favour of reopening schools. Students who were not schooled due to COVID 19, will benefit from catch up classes. The Minister stated that schools can be reclosed at a short notice. For further details, read (here).
