The Digital Revolution in South Africa experienced a dip of 11% due to the influence of larger companies than the SMMEs. Since the future of work is digital, the country needs to vigorously develop mechanisms to move the country and its young population forward in 2023.
A gap in the quality of educational as well as traditional institutions failing to give the needed skills that the economy requires pose challenges to the young people. A workforce that is aging along with a growing unskilled population are risky to the economy. ATS warns the situation needs urgent attention.
ATS CEO Onyi Nwaneri warns that there needs to be real effort spanning both private and public industries so that SA can create the ideal climate for the younger generation to take part in the new growth era on a more ample scale. Although there are some young people graduating from Programs and securing highly paid digital jobs, there needs to be more partnerships in the tech-savvy education sector.
